In 2015, the award for Best Safety Record was presented to the Guardian Couplings facility in Michigan City, Indiana. The award for 2014-2015 Most Improved Safety Record went to the Warner Electric facility in Colombia City, Indiana. These awards were recently presented to facility staff by Carl Christenson, Chairman and CEO.

Altra Safety Award recipients are determined based on the Total-Recordable Case-Rate (TRCR) as defined by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The TRCR measures the rate of injury (requiring professional medical treatment) per every 100 employees and is therefore scalable to adjust for different sized facilities.
